This is about our relationship with the people around us who are outside of the church community.
Jesus said come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11 v28). We believe there is no greater treasure on Earth than Jesus. By faith and repentance of our sins, we all can receive this gift. We want to share this good news with our community.
We seek to do this as individuals but also as church together through hosting and organising events for the wider community, visiting the people in the houses around our church at Easter and Christmas with gifts and the offer to talk and pray.
We also periodically run Alpha courses for those who are interested in hearing and talking about what Christians believe.
A key verse for our church is:
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your offspring will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.”
We are Rushden MISSION Church. Our mission is to be a people who bear the name of Jesus in this world, who do not shrink back into obscurity but boldly and fearlessly play our part in advancing the Kingdom of God.
The direction of this statement is outwards as we look outside of our walls to share Jesus’ love in other places where people gather together.
In our logo, we chose to have one part of our cross opening outward in green to represent us going out from our gatherings together and into our daily lives to share the good news of Jesus.
